Comprehensive Curriculum
During the 13-week program, participants will delve into a wide range of techniques and methods essential for success in the culinary field. Our curriculum covers:
1. Food Safety: Participants will learn about food safety protocols and regulations to ensure the highest standards of sanitation and hygiene in commercial kitchens.
2. Knife Skills: Mastery of knife skills is fundamental in any kitchen environment. Our training program focuses on honing precision and efficiency in cutting techniques.
3. Operating and Maintaining Food Service Equipment: Participants will gain hands-on experience in operating and maintaining various food service equipment commonly found in commercial kitchens.
4. Cuisine Origins: Understanding the origins and traditions behind different cuisines provides a deeper appreciation and knowledge base for aspiring chefs.
5. Menu Planning: Our program covers the fundamentals of menu planning, including recipe development, cost analysis, and balancing flavor profiles to create well-rounded menus.
6. Recipe Standards: Participants will learn how to interpret and follow recipe standards accurately, ensuring consistency and quality in every dish they prepare.
7. Hands-on Food Preparation and Presentation: Through practical, hands-on training, participants will refine their culinary skills and learn the art of food preparation and presentation, creating dishes that are as visually stunning as they are delicious.
Program Details
This program is ideal for audiences 15-24 years of age
Classes are held in person from 5 to 8:30 PM three times a week
Registration occurs quarterly and students may be referred or self-enroll
Classes have a maximum capacity of 15 students
Program duration is 13 weeks
Students who successfully complete their coursework and exam will receive a certificate of completion and/or ServSafe Certification
