Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B)

EMT is a one-year course of study for mature juniors and seniors who want to serve their community in a growing public safety field. This course provides students with the entry-level knowledge and skills necessary to render basic emergency medical care to the sick and injured. It also provides the foundation for advanced training in Para-medicine. Through discussion, practical labs, and clinical field experience students are introduced to patient assessment, airway, and respiratory problems, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, oxygen therapy, bleeding control, shock management, soft tissue injuries, fracture care, spinal immobilization, patient triage, and obstetrical, pediatric, environmental and behavioral emergencies.
