The Jennings-Oneil Career Academy offers seven in demand career Pathways.  Curriculum for each Pathway is rooted in real-world skills, with a focus on putting learners in an industry based culture and environment. Courses in each Pathway are designed to be successive by building upon the professional skills and knowledge gained in prerequisite courses.

Barbering I & II

Barbering consists of hair cutting, shaving, trimming the beard, coloring the hair, applying hair tonics, permanent waving, marcelling the hair, facial and scalp massages, treatments with oils, creams, lotions, or other preparations either by hand or mechanical appliances.

Certified Fiber Optics

Certified Fiber Optics Technician Course (CFOT)

If you are interested in learning about fiber optic networking and becoming a Certified Fiber Optic Technician, this introductory course is for you. Explore the history and future of fiber optics and fiber optics capabilities, including the cost of installation. Train and hone your skills through a combination of theory and 85% hands-on activities to prepare you to take the Certified Fiber Optics Technician (CFOT) test that is sanctioned by the Fiber Optics Association (FOA) and administered on the final day of the course.

Banking Occupations

Principles of Banking

This course covers the fundamentals of bank functions in a descriptive fashion. Topics include banks and monetary system, the relationship of banks to depositors, the payment functions, bank loans and accounting, regulations, compliance, and examinations.

Teller Training

Develop essential bank teller skills. Master core competencies such as bank profitability, cash handling, check cashing, deposit and withdrawal processing, cash payments, and daily settlements of teller cash and proof transactions and security threats and its detection.

Computer Science & Multimedia

Computer Science and Multimedia is a vast discipline that spans from coding to video editing. The computer science domain includes software development, video game design, image editing, web development, and computer engineering. Multimedia also covers areas of Photoshop, video editing, 3D building, and video game design. Students will start with an intro to programming, where students will learn to build code for video games. Students will be able to wire and add resistors to projects that interact with the environment. Video game design classes test students’ ideas about what a game is and how they are made. Video editing marches into the fields of editing, effects, and streaming.

Medical Team

Medical Occupations

Medical Occupations is a program where students are able to investigate different professions within the healthcare system. Students spend a great deal of time applying practical healthcare skills related to subjects such as anatomy, disease process, and medical terminology. Over two years, students have the opportunity to obtain a certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Those that choose to participate in the CNA program will be required to attend 70 hours of onsite training at a local nursing home, and pass a state exam. For those who are considering a career in healthcare, this course will provide students with a strong foundation.
